i've been Wii-ed part 2

As a relatively new game enthusiast, i've got to admit that video game aint' my strong suit. Getting my first Nintendo was a result of wanting to establish some kind of bond with my USA cousin who was visiting TW for the first time. After he left, i pretty much did not play the thing and eventually it just died. Summer 99, lance, jack and i went into a partnership deal and got ourselves a N64~ now, that was good time for sure~ little 64 stayed strong and faithful for us for 3 good fun years with lots of trash talks and bitter sweet tears~ I later 'scamed' the 64 off the other two partners, but found a soft spot in my heart and gave it to three cute little kids i was living with in Brockville. I certainly hope that they were able to create some fond memories as my friends and i had. Then along came Cubie. By then, Lance and I are two coasts apart, but we each carried on the gaming traditions with tips and game tradings (i'd say that the trades were mostly one sided. Thanks, old friend.) I've lost my passion for video games a bit cus the gamers were gone. Then Morris came back and made sure that game cube was fairly utilized. For that, i owe him a statement of appreciation. Discovering DS lite was another legacy of Lance (damn you!!! you are 'making' me spending money on kiddie stuff!!) Then again, that brain age game surely filled in some substantial void in our lives during the summer (even for MOM~) So, when i causuallyed strolled into the local Toy'R'us this past September looking for a new DS title, the big bold letter of "PREORDER YOUR NEXT GENERATION NINTENDO Wii" made a lasting impression in me. I played the hard-to-get game with the sales clerk and even pull the 'i'm walkin'~" trick. Eventually i ended up the loser (or winner, depending how you look at it~) and paid the deposit for it~

Fast foward to last night, Saturday, November 25, 2006, exactly shy of a week after i dutifully waited outside the toy store for 30 minutes to pick up my Wii; i broke the seal of the brand new gaming sensation's fancy package: and before we knew it, we were living virtual reality.

With limited titles to pick from, i must admit that the games were rather elementary. Yet, the WAY (not Wei or Wie) we got to play was revolutionary! In fact, i am still sore from the intense boxing action last night. With a sensor strip placed on top of the TV, you are able to play a variety of sports games exactly (well, almost) how you would play the real thing. Ever tried 'virtual golf'? Y-U-P. The graphic of the games were not ultra realistic. Then again, if you are looking for good old time fun with a bunch of friends while you go silly~ then this is the 'pure' gaming experience you are looking for. One thing i also love about the game is the fact that you are 'active' while playing. Look at Vince and I going at it in our tennis match, we were really into it and almost broke the TV a couple of times~ =) The cool thing about Wii is also that it's backward compatible. One the side of Wii are slots of Cube's memory card and controllers. You can seamlessly play the game cube title withou noticing the defference. Oh btw, when you start the game, you can also change the set up so the game adopt to 4:3 or 16:9 screens of yours~ With the network Wi-fi built in, you are also able to download old games from 64 era or even the super nintendo days!!! you will have to get a classic controller for those games though~ (and despite hearing rumours about free downloads, you do have to get a online points card. Then again, i have an original super nintendo downstairs in the box, why would i download? )

so, i am obviously biased. There is indeed a downside to all these 'awesomeness'. Ya ready for it?? (lance??) IT"S SOLD OUT ACROSS NORTH AMERICA AND YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT until you can have the 'legendary' experience like my posse and i had~
