Wedding diary 0.

Lately Jack and I have been quite occupied with all the preparations for the upcoming wedding. We travelled to Kingston last weekend for a bridal show and was able to seal the deal with the cake maker. We spent this weekend driving around town getting paper samples for the invitation. In the meantime, jack picked her dress and am now praying for the timely delivery of the gown before the wedding day. It seems that we are constantly playing catch up despite the fact the the wedding is still more than 7 months away~ Do we really need to be getting nervous over all the minute details this far ahead? Or are we really that behind schedule in wedding years?

Wedding is such a strange social event in human society. We spend loads and loads of money on things that we can never retrieve, while we should really save the dough since we'll most likely require those funds after the wedding. We dedicate countless hours preparing for a day full of events, but things hardly ever go as planned and most of the guests will probably too drunk to remember the details anyway. Yet, we continue to pour our hearts and souls into this event while THE wedding business prospers and grows.

I am not anti-wedding at all. In fact, i find myself usually consumed by the excitement and anticipation of my own big day with Jack. Nevertheless, i often catch myself reflecting over the questions regarding the dos and don'ts of this social display, and wonder, simply wonder, just why are we so invested in this day. After all, i'll be happy as long as Jack and I are happily together~

That's why you do it the Taiwanese way. Your guests' red pocket money will take care of all the cash you spend on your wedding.

Oh! wait, you can't even go back to Taiwan~
That's the reason I missed you at our wedding.

I am wondering if we should just sell out and go into the wedding business... Seems to be where the cashes at.

well, like you said, it's a social event...we spend a lot on all the social evnets in our life to , i don't know, to have fun?? you spend a lot to go out for dinner, you spend a lot to see a show, a ball game.. you spend money on friends' birthday, on christmas, new year or whatever holidays.... if we don't do any of these things, we will save a lot of money and time, but we still do these..why? because it is fun...
don't think too much..the wedding is a social event, a joyful day for everybody who cares ( drunk or not), that's all what's matter, isn't it???

i say....save money on your wedding by going naked. have your guests bring their own food. picnic somewhere. frolic in fields of wildflowers. and make your own cake since you don't mind spending time in wedding "preparations". i think this could be fun...

i'll skip out on the naked frolicking though, just so you know.

great seeing you this weekend! hope you made it back to canadia safely... come visit me in atlanta sometime!! (AND NOT FOR MY WEDDING, since everyone's got weddings on their minds... *sigh*)
