tears were in my eyes.
yup, it was indeed one shiny moment (like the March Madness) for all those who were there witnessing the game. My girls announced to the area schools today that WE HAVE FINALLY ARRIVED. Back in December when we started the journey together, the future of this team was bleak, to say the least. Attitude. Inexperience. Lack of commitment. Thin talent pool. This was definitely a Cinderella story.
ONE TEAM. ONE GOAL.
somehow we got it. Somehow the competitiveness began to sprout in some of these kids. Somehow we've gained a better insight of the game; a bit more respect, a bit more appreciation, a bit more love.
you would have cried if you were there. Not I. Boys don't cry. But tears were in my eyes. Watching a group of 13 years old learning to lean on each other. Watching their faces went from pure frustration to realization; from fright to bright; from doubt to proud. These girls overcame a gym full of haters, and prevailed.
One shiny moment. Tears were in my eyes.

That's absolutely delightful! Congrats to you and your girls. Being the coach, you need a huge hand as well~ Awesome job man!
Thanks, dude. =)
you know, they deserved this (and i made sure that they heard it from me). You can't teach 'heart'....and they've shown hearts.....
"delightful"? you sound like an old british senior...
for those who are interested: my girls won the Area Final and punched the ticket to the Regional Tournament. We now have a banner to show for hanging on the gym ceiling~ =)
Sweet! Congratulations~
